Is it bad to leave my insulin in the car while I'm at work and almost never in the fridge?
I was just wondering if something could happen to it. If so what? F.y.i since my new insurance won't cover the pens I had to go back to viles and syringes and I'm always away from home. So I just carry it around.

- if it has to be in a fridge, you are damaging it.
- Unfortunately, dear lady, leaving it in your car is one of the worst things you can do. When insulin is not kept in a refrigerator it loses it's efficacy pretty quickly. The recommendation from insulin developers is that insulin not stored in a refrigerator should be discarded within about 28 days if it hasn't been used.
- Yes, leaving Insulin in the car is bad. If the temperature of insulin gets too high (I'm pretty sure it is anything over 80 degrees), it essentially loses its effectiveness.
- Yeah, it'll go bad
- The vial that you are currently using does not need to be, and generally should not be, refrigerated. They maintain their effectiveness for about 4 weeks when kept at moderate temperatures. However, you should never leave it in a car. In the summertime, the interior will become very hot - which is bad for the insulin. In the winter - if you live in a place where it gets cold - then it could freeze, which also ruins it. The best solution is to bring it with you. There are many kits that area available for holding vials, syringes and all associated items. A fanny pack could be what works best. There are many option, but leaving your insulin vials in the car is a bad idea. If you really wanted to, you could leave everything else in the car, but carry just the vials with you.
