  1. that sounds impossible, but if anything look up truckers websites and camping websites
  2. Even a small fridge needs a lot of power and a small rechargeable pack won't run it for an hour let alone two days.
  3. Any of these units will work off any 12VDC battery source -- doesn't matter if it's a deep cycle marine battery (*looks* like an automotive battery) or NiMH or whatever (but *don't* use an automotive battery -- they hate being deep cycled like that). The problem is going to be the size of the battery no matter which one you choose. Even the smaller units will consume 3A at 12VDC (see Koolatron model P-9, a 9 quart unit). You are therefore looking at 48 hrs x 3A = 144 amp-hours worth of rechargable battery at 12VDC. To put this in some perspective, a healthy D cell NiMH will provide you with 12Amp-hours, but that's only at 1.2V, and you need 12V. So first you'd need 10 "D" cells to get your 12V, then x 12 (144A-h / 12A-h) to get you to 48 hours. That's ***120*** "D" cells of NiMH. Are you sure this is a useful direction for you to be going?
  4. Get some dry ice in a cooler--will last that long easily.
