Compact Refrigerators

How can I make a mini-fridge run on battery power?

I'd like to buy a battery powered mini fridge, but for some reason, you can only get one in China. So, if I buy a mini-fridge for a car or otherwise, is it possible to make it run on batteries?

  1. Chloe, if the fridge is built to run on the 120 Volt or 230 Volt AC mains, building a converter to run it on a car battery, would be expensive. I have seen dozens of three-way fridges; they run on the 230 Volt AC mains, 12 Volt car batteries or bottled gas. You can also buy small fridges that operate on the "cold junction" principle --- they use small dry cell batteries or wet cell car batteries. Consult a trailer aka caravan fitting shop.
  2. Yes it is possible but very expensive tell us more about where you live what kind of temperature what is the application... Ice is by far more economical and the performance! An automotive cool ches will maintain cool for a while. it is not powerful enough to lower the temperature of foods. Guru
