Best dorm food for a college freshman with a fridge but no car?
Sure, there's ramen and easy mac, but any others in mind?

- hot pockets,frozen tv dinners,i guess.
- Find out if there's a place in the area that delivers wings and beer. That's how I got through college.
- Cereal, hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly, a few frozen meals, hot pockets. When we were in college we use to put salsa and velveeta cheese and sometimes cut up hot dogs in our ramen noodles. Hey, when you're broke and stuck on campus that's a full course meal. :)
- fresh veggies and dip, tortilla chips and salsa that was my diet for my freshman year!
- cereal, sandwiches (buy stuff for it seperately), snack foods, candy bars, chef boyardee, chips, popcorn See if there's a store on campus, like a food or convenience store, some campuses have those. They carry a lot of stuff you can microwave or snacks you can eat
- pizza delivery
- Packaged tuna (crackers), string cheese, milk (instant breakfast), fresh fruit i.e. grapes, apples and any berries (peanut butter), fresh veggies ready to serve, cereal, lunchmeat, bread. Good luck, hope you do well!
- Think deli. Stock your favorite deli meats, some good bread (whole wheat for your health), mustards, cheeses, pickles, peppers, olives and whatever else you can think of. The general idea is to keep something that is tasty, healthy, doesn't spoil quickly and easy to make. If you buy fresh fruit and vegetables, don't buy too much or they will end up spoiling on you. Take advantage of the cafeteria fruits and veggies. Freshman year in college is lots of fun. Study hard and good luck!
- As a mom, I'll try to focus on healthy choices. All the stuff others have suggested, especially peanut butter, cereals, macaroni products, good whole grain bread and bagels and sandwich fixings. Also milk, cheese, mixtures of nuts and dried fruit, different kinds of crackers, pre-cooked frozen sliced chicken breast, the pre-washed packages of salads (you can make a great chicken Caesar with the chicken breast I mentioned and these packages), frozen juice, bananas, oranges and apples. Most large supermarkets have excellent deli sections where you can get ready to eat salads, BBQ chicken, roasts, etc. at very reasonable prices - cheaper actually than fast food takeout. If you can invest in (or are allowed to have them in your dorm room) a toaster, a microwave, a rice steamer, and/or a soup warmer (like a small kettle) your possiblities will be even greater. Also try to find a bulk food store near your campus - you know, the ones where everything is in big bins and you buy only as much as you want. You will get much better deals and be able to buy food cheaply in smaller quantities. Good luck with your freshman year!! Enjoy your culinary escapades!!
