Fairly new mini fridge and small freezer compartment in my shop-Froze everything-?

Has a built in ice area on top-Had it on 6-everything froze overnite. Turned down to 1, again, everything froze overnite, filled it with more stuff ( maybe too much open space ) --again froze everything. Any ideas or advice

1. No its not the open space. We have the same problem at my work. We had ours on 5 now but food went bad fast I turned it up to 6 and it froze. If its newish try taking it back to the store
2. THERMOSTAT FAULTY
3. Is your shop heated? If the temp in the shop went very cold overnight, the fridge cannot make things inside warmer, only colder.
